Lanayee is a 2021 graduate of Lamar University with a Master of Education in Counseling and Development with a concentration in Marriage, Couple and Family Counseling. She prescribes mostly to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy though she believes that a one size fits all approach to therapy does not exist. As such, Lanayee also incorporates elements of Solution Focused Brief Therapy and even directive therapy to her approach when appropriate. Her overall goal for therapy is to collaboratively readjust negative and harmful thoughts that cause ineffectual behaviors. This is done with a warm, non-judgmental attitude with just the enough push to effect growth and change.

Lanayee believes in the restorative power of the therapeutic relationship and strives to offer her clients a safe environment to make positive changes for themselves. She understands that at the heart of this relationship diversity must be honored and embraced. Therefore, Lanayee takes a multicultural approach to therapy that establishes the worth, dignity, potential, and uniqueness of people and their social and cultural perspectives as guided by the 2014 American Counseling Association Code of Ethics.

Lanayee has wide-ranging experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. As a teacher and therapist, she has a diverse bank of knowledge assisting children and adolescents develop coping skills to handle their emotional, academic, and social needs. As a therapist, Lanayee believes in listening more than speaking so that the client can be impowered to find their own voice. She embraces the idea that the experience of therapy should assist individuals to see themselves and others in a more clear manner, fostering the ability to deal with undesirable and uncomfortable feelings, thoughts and perceptions, and using this knowledge to make healthier, more satisfying decisions.
